Samsung Electronics Limited Employees are "Afraid" after the Note 7 Fiasco
Samsung Electronics employees are having a hard time as they are stressed due to the Note 7 discontinuation
Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (OTCMKTS:SSNLF) has officially ordered it employees to not make any comments on the Galaxy Note 7 debacle that has managed to tear the Galaxy flagship smartphone apart. The company is apparently attempting to regain customers’ lost trust, but it seems in the process of doing so, it is terribly neglecting its employees.
According to the Korea Herald, Samsung executives and employees have received an internal email which has requested them to increase the security of discussions related to the explosive Note 7 incidents. Samsung has little choice in how tight it has to keep its hands so that operational secrets are not leaked, causing even more financial hollows and termination of partnerships.
Reuters reached out to a few Samsung employees to report how they felt following the Note 7 debacle. However, they didn’t want to be named because they do not have the authority to speak to anyone about this, especially the media. The tech organization is so discreet even when it comes to its upcoming products that even its own executives find out details and changes at the very last moment.
A change in executives can be expected as the company is rethinking its options and considering reshuffling executives in the hardware department. This has been the main cause behind increased frustration among employees. However, Samsung did tell Reuters that it will not make any major management change as a reaction to what it has faced over these past few months.
The tension among employees heightened when the Galaxy Note 7 recall backfired a month ago while the company still failed to figure out the exact cause of the explosive incidents. Samsung Electronics did say soon after the recall that it was working every minute to find out the cause of the problems occurring in the Note 7.
At least 70% Samsung workers are working outside the company’s hometown, South Korea. It remains to be seen how the global workforce would be affected by the Note 7 failure. The employees in Vietnam would be pleased to know that the company doesn’t have any plans to make job cuts, at least for now.
An unknown employee working at the consumer electronics division said that many Samsung workers saw this coming as the company was facing very tough competition from major rivals Apple and Huawei. Samsung previously planned to launch its next smartphone, the S8, next year, but analysts now expect the process to slow down following the Note 7 failure. However, Samsung itself has not confirmed these rumors of Galaxy S production being affected by the blow.
Samsung’s brand image is under the spotlight as a result of its discontinued phablet losing billions of dollars just with two recalls. While we can expect to see more headlines on the Note 7 Debacle and its consequences, we wouldn’t advise you to hold your breath for any remarks from Samsung employees as they have been given a serious warning.
