Unboxing ntel’s Konka R2: A 4G LTE Smartphone That Supports Both Voice and Data LTE

Hey, guys! Another unboxing here (P.S. The number of phones piling up for review, though), this time, it is from an unpopular brand – Konka! I believe it is pronounced as:
maxresdefault
I might be wrong, though. 🤔
Anyway, I got a review unit from ntel. The Konka R2 is sold together with a discounted nTel data bundle. (Click the link to see the offer).
One thing that makes ntel’s Konka R2 worth reviewing is the fact that unlike other similar 4G LTE devices that support only voice mode OR data mode, the Konka R2 supports both voice and data modes. What this means is that you can make calls while your 4G data is switched on (Other devices like the Infinix Hot 2S only supports one mode at a time).
Despite this nice feature, the specs came with one or two bad tidings, do check them out:

Here is the package:

The first thought that came to my mind when I saw the Konka lettering (Here is a picture below)
KONKA R2 NOKIA
… Was, yup, NOKIA!! Tell me you didn’t think NOKIA when you saw it (Look again…. You see!).
The Konka R2 comes with the usual accessories (The USB Cable and power adapter) but no earphones.

You also have a plastic case anddazzal! (I await the moment a Phone manufacturer would dazzle me with unique set of accessories)

While I wait to be dazzled, meet the Konka R2, a 5.5-inch device from a company based in China.

On a first impression, I thought it reminded me of HTC devices.

But a second glance cleared that thought from my head thanks to the bezels found on the R2.

Meanwhile, we have another “To the right” song coming right up:
to the right

… Because the volume buttons and power button are positioned on the right side while the other end is left bare

There is the 3.5mm earphone jack  on top

… And the speakers positioned at the back.

You also have a centralized 13MP camera lens with the single flash lens placed beside it.

By the way, the skin on the back is smooth even though it looks otherwise.

Opening the back cover (Yes, it has a removable back cover) lets you in on the 2700mAh sealed up battery!

The battery is a letdown, right?
You also have two SIM card slots and Micro SD card slot.

Moving to the front, we have the 5MP front camera with a proximity sensor and notification sensor. No front flash.

SETTING UP THE KONKA R2

Setting up the device is pretty much the same experience you’d find on other Android devices, but the BEZELS kept on staring at me, like:

Why waste all that space???!!
One other thing that left an impression (Not saying whether it’s a good one, for now) is the startup sound. You can listen to it below:
😬
Finally, the Konka R2 has onscreen buttons as opposed to the capacitive buttons found on some smartphones.

GIF CONCLUSION

When I realize that the R2 supports both data and voice modes:

OVERALL CONCLUSION:

The front view of the Konka R2 has left a good first impression excluding the bezels….

… But how will the Konka R2 perform in real-life usage, especially the 2700mAh battery? Find out in the full review!
